Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Renga mobile application (“Renga”, “the App”, “we”, “us”), operated by minnya (“Developer”). By creating an account or using Renga, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

Renga contains user-generated content, public debate, and content-rating features that may include mature themes (heated disagreement, public criticism of ideas, and similar content). You must be at least 17 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher) to create an account. By using Renga, you represent that you meet this requirement. See our Child Safety Standards for our published policy against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

2. The Service

Renga is a social platform where posts are evaluated along two axes: Influence (reach, followers, reposts) and Intellect (a score derived from quiz performance, community endorsements, and debate outcomes). Core features include:

Text, image, and video posts, including embedded YouTube links
Daily quizzes and onboarding quizzes that contribute to your Intellect score
“Staked” posts and “Logic Check” debates that use Thought Power (TP), an in-app virtual point
Intellect badges, expert badges, and layer filters based on community-derived scores
A strike system for posts found to contain broken logic or misinformation by qualifying users

We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering (via email or Google Sign-In) and keep it up to date.

4. Thought Power (TP) — Virtual Points

TP is an in-app virtual point with no monetary value. TP:

Cannot be purchased with real money, cashed out, exchanged for currency, or transferred outside the App (except to other Renga users through in-app mechanics such as staking or wagers on Logic Check battles).
Has no guaranteed value and may be adjusted, reset, or forfeited as described in these Terms (including as a penalty under Section 7).
Is not a security, financial instrument, or gambling chip. Any staking, wagering, or “betting” mechanics involving TP are entertainment features using points with no cash value and no redemption mechanism.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the text, images, and videos you post (“User Content”). By posting, you grant Renga a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating, promoting, and improving the App. You represent that you have the rights necessary to post your User Content and to grant this license.

Video content you upload is processed and delivered by our video infrastructure partner (Mux). YouTube links you share are displayed using YouTube’s official embedded player and remain subject to YouTube’s own Terms of Service.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

Post content that is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, violent, hateful, harassing, or that infringes another person’s rights.
Use automated tools, scripts, or AI systems to solve quizzes, farm Intellect score, or abuse the Logic Check / staking / wagering systems.
Attempt to manipulate Influence or Intellect scores through fake accounts, bots, or coordinated inauthentic behavior.
Circumvent, disable, or interfere with content moderation, rate limits, or security features.
Use the App in a way that violates applicable law.

We may use a combination of automated review (including AI-based content screening) and user reports to detect violations of this section. See our Privacy Policy for details on how content is screened.

7. Reporting, Moderation, and the Strike System

Any user may report a post, video, or profile. Reported content, and content flagged by our automated screening, may be temporarily hidden pending human review.
We aim to review reports within 24 hours.
Posts found by qualifying community members to contain broken logic or misinformation may receive a warning label and reduced distribution. Repeated violations trigger our three-strike system, which may result in score penalties, loss of badges, posting restrictions, or a reset of your account’s score data as described in-app.
You may appeal a moderation decision or strike through the in-app appeal mechanism.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion, with or without notice, particularly for severe or repeated violations.

8. Advertising

Renga displays advertisements served through Google AdMob. Ad content is provided by third parties and is not endorsed by us. See our Privacy Policy for details on advertising data.

9. Third-Party Services

Renga relies on third-party infrastructure providers, including Supabase (database and backend), Google Firebase (push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration), Google Gemini API (content analysis), Mux (video hosting), and Google AdMob (advertising). Your use of Renga is also subject to the applicable terms of these providers where relevant.

10. Disclaimers

Renga is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any score, badge, or ranking accurately reflects any real-world measure of intelligence or credibility. Intellect scores and badges are gamified, community- and AI-influenced signals for entertainment and discussion purposes, not a certified assessment of a person’s knowledge or IQ.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or virtual points (including TP), arising out of or related to your use of the App.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App and request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless otherwise required by mandatory local law applicable to you as a consumer.
